Alf Jacob Nilsen, vintage 1954. Lives in "Habnen", specifically in the small village
called Kirkehamn on the island of Hidra in Vest-Agder, south-western Norway.
I am married to Lise and work as a teacher at Lister High Schooll (division Flekkefjord)
where I teach biology and science, a job that I am very happy with. I am also part time
employed in NDLA - a national project creating online learning material fin biology for
high school students (www.ndla.no)
An interest in nature and biology have been there since boyhood. For many
years I have worked with "the Coral Reef Aquarium", coral reef biology and tropical
biology. Systematics, biological diversity and, above all, the preservation of pristine
areas is important to me. Some of my photographic interests are therefore directed to
"species and environmental documentation ".
Moreover, evolutionary biology, is anorther field of great interest. The story of how life
on Earth originated and continues to evolve fascinates me a lot. Human evolution and
our early ancestors in East-Africa, is to me one of the most fascinating subjects that
one can study today. Charles Darwin and his fundamental theory on evolution is also
topic that i over and over again keep coming back to.
After many years of underwater photography, the photographic interest has now
moved on to land. Nature photography is excellently combined with travel, and both me
and my wife love to travel. We try to visit as many corners of the World as possible,
and through these pages, I hope to share some of our experience with you .....
