Nilsen Youtube: Close contact with polar bear (2011) Join us for a photo- and film expedition to Svalbard onboard R/K Ulla Rinman. The journey will take us to the pack ice and to 80-degrees north or further.. Experience the Arctic nature and the   unique animal and bird life.  Enjoy the total silence and get an   experience for life time.  R/K Ulla Rinman is a 24,5 meters long former Swedish rescue vessel built for Arctic conditions.  Today the ship is owned by its skipper, Geir Aasebøstøl that knows Svalbard very well after living and sailing the archipelago for many years. The vessel is low, reaching only 80 cm above the surface on its lowest, a fact that gives us a great advantage when taking photos. We will be almost at the same level as the motives.  The boat is also equipped with two zodiacs that can be used when going ashore and a kayak can be brought on board if preferred. The expedition starts by sailing directly from Longyearbyen to the northern parts of Spitsbergen and the areas around Sjuöyene and Nordaustlandet.  We go where things happen!  We seek the unique events and when we find action – polar bears, walruses, beluga whales and maybe even a blue whale, we stay to photograph and observe. We do not rush along a fixed route. The light in Svalbard is perfect for photography, and we shall find it and take advantage of it... A polar bear is visiting us.  R/K Ulla Rinman has found and got close to polar bears on every expedition! PHOTO and FILM Basically this is an expedition for nature photographers doing photo or video. We share our experiences and discuss the results. In the land of the midnight sun the light is there 24 hours a day and the motives are lining up in the most beautiful settings.  Biologist or you who is simply a lover of nature will also benefit a lot from joining in on this trip - you are all most welcome!  And so are you that have always wanted to visit Svalbard or the Arctic, but have never really found the optimal journey.... With our lenses we hunt for polar bears, walruses, seals, birds, whales and other exciting motives that appear in front of us.  We visit the spectacular bird cliff “Alkefjellet” and sail through Hinlopenstredet, we go to Sjuøyene and Nordaustlandet – all exotic places in the northernmost part of Norway. We never know exactly what will happen, just that something is going to happen - and that is the unique thing!  Welcome onboard! Insurance: Travel insurance not included
