R/K Ulla Rinman is a Swedish rescue vessel that was formerly operation along the western coast of Sweden near Gothenburg.
It has saved more than 200 lives at sea, including many of the passengers onboard the ferry Scandinavian Star that took a
disastrous fire on the night of April 6th 1990.
The boat is built and certified to tolerate and operate in heavy ice and can force its way through one meter thick ice. In order
to do this it has a powerful engine and a propeller and shaft in stainless steel. R/K Ulla Rinman has three 2-person cabins, one
4-person cabin and a "master cabin" with double bed additional to a bunk that can be flipped down if wanted. The cabins are
spacious for this type of vessel and most of them have a table and some a bench. Even the 4-person cabin is larger than
equal cabins found on other boats operating in Svalbard. All cabins have 220VAC for charging PCs and batteries, and all have
ventilation. The front cabins have a special ventilator if one need extra ventilation in bad weather and all cabins have central
heating that can be regulated by a thermostat.
